NEWS The Club will be open again starting Saturday August 6 Interested in a scholarship for a member of your family, see "Documents" section " Tom Conrick has passed away, no other details available at this time" Pancake Breakfast - July 2 Saturday June 4, 2022 This Saturday, due to our participation in Home Town Heroes, the club will be serving pre made sandwiches, veggie side and cookies for a nominal fee. Breakfast will not be offered this Saturday. Battle of the Atlantic The club will not be open on Saturday but instead will be open on BOA Sunday. Free sandwiches! HMCS Calgary will not be holding a Cowboy Up event this year but they will be in town for Stampede. As reported in the Navy Calgary Newsletter, the Friends of HMCS Calgary is planning an event for the ship. No details known at this time. Raising a tot to celebrate the last issued rum tot that happened on HMCS St Croix, March 30, 1972. Two of our members remember that day well, Bevan Slater and Doug Ewing. Members can see more photos in the Photo Gallery. The CNVA Board met Feb 1 to discuss when the Club might re-open. The Club will not be open on either Feb 5 or Feb 12. It was decided that the next event at the Club will be the Super Bowl party on Feb 13. An event notice will be sent out shortly inviting members to register for this event. If there is sufficient interest (15 registrations) by Feb 7, the event will proceed. If not, it will be cancelled. The first regular Saturday opening is planned for Feb 19. The Club will be closed for the rest of January. This, of course, is in response to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant. Hopefully, we will be able to re-open on February 5. At the General Meeting Nov 13, Master at Arms Dusty Rhodes presented the Club with a framed print.

It is anticipated that the Club will re-open on 11 Apr. The AGM will occur one week after the Club re-opens. Seaspan Shipyards and many of it's more than 2800 employees gathered for a ceremonial keel laying event for the Royal Canadian Navy's future HMCS Protecteur in North Vancouver.

NAVY DAY AT THE MUSEUM Sad to report Marie Bain passed away September 25/19. Her son Ted will be making arrangements for a service towards the end of October. FIELD OF CROSSES NOW OPERATING AS A CHARITY ORGANIZATION. Laura and Mike Vanderkruk ,members of the CNVA and also on the executive of the Veterans Association Food Bank were in attendance to explain how successful the Food Bank has been and plans for the future growth.
